About This Policy
At Intellect Education Group, protecting our authors and customers is a top priority. We treat the information you share with us as our responsibility. Although we collect personal data in the course of providing book publishing services, we use it to deliver, support, and improve those services. We do not lease or sell the data you provide online.

This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to intellectgroup.org and any associated landing pages or author portals we operate for manuscript assessment, editing, cover design, typesetting, print and eBook production, ISBN and copyright support, and retail distribution.

By visiting or using our publishing services, you agree to our Terms & Conditions and this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please leave this site and do not use the services.

Personal Information Collected
The information collected by Intellect Education Group includes your name, email address, mailing address, and telephone number. You provide these details when you request a quote, place a publishing order, submit a manuscript inquiry, or save your information with us. We may also use email or mailing addresses received through our Contact Us form, manuscript form, or other inquiry forms to respond to comments, questions, and project requests.

We also keep records of the publishing services that have interested you, such as editing, cover design, interior layout, ISBN setup, or distribution, as well as your online purchases and order history.

Intellect Education Group and our service providers may also collect:
  • Book title, genre, audience, and publishing package of interest
  • Manuscript files, outlines, author briefs, revision notes, and proof comments you submit
  • Author photos, biography details, and other images you upload
  • Payment and billing information needed to process your order
  • Your marketing, SMS, and newsletter preferences
  • Information from social networking sites when you give permission, such as your name, picture, and email address

You do not have to provide personal information to browse the website. If you register, place an order, contact us, or submit manuscript content, we will collect the data needed to respond and complete the work.

Use of Collected Data
We use the information you provide to process publishing requests and deliver your project. We may send emails to confirm an inquiry or order, and our customer service team may contact you by phone, mail, or email if we need more detail about your manuscript, cover, proofs, or package.

As an author or customer, you may also receive updates about our website and publishing services, including newsletters and information about promotions. We may use information about your interests and purchases to improve the website and the publishing experience.

We may also use your information to:
  • Track briefs, revision rounds, proof approvals, and package completion
  • Prepare ISBN, barcode, copyright, print, and distribution filings included in your package
  • Create or maintain an author account so you can review proofs and files
  • Send project notices, such as sample, proof, or file-delivery updates

Newsletter Opt-Out
If you no longer wish to receive our newsletter or promotional communications, you may opt out by following the instructions in each email or by contacting us at publicrelations@intellectgroup.org or (512) 250-0154.

You may still receive service messages needed to manage your publishing order, such as proof notifications or policy updates. If you opted in to SMS, reply STOP to any message to opt out of texts.

Social Media Features and Widgets
Our website may include social media features, such as a Facebook Like button, and widgets, such as a Share button or similar tools that run on the site. These features may collect your IP address, identify which page you are visiting, and set a cookie so the feature works properly. Social media features and widgets are hosted either by a third party or directly on our site. Your use of those features is governed by the privacy policy of the company that provides them.

Third-Party Sharing
Intellect Education Group does not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Your data is used to provide our publishing services and improve your experience with us.

We do not disclose personal information to unrelated parties unless you give written permission, except as needed to complete your publishing project or as required by law. We may share information with service providers who work on our instructions, including payment processors, editors, designers, printers, ISBN or copyright agencies, distributors, and technology vendors. Those parties may use the information only to perform services for Intellect Education Group.

Security of Personal Information
Author and customer data is protected during transmission with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption. We follow recognized industry practices to safeguard personal information both while it is being sent and after we receive it.

No method of transmission over the internet, and no method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. While we use commercially reasonable measures to protect your information, we cannot guarantee complete security.

If you have questions about security on our website, email us at publicrelations@intellectgroup.org.

Access to Registered Accounts
You can access a registered account by logging in through our website. Once signed in, you can view records and information you have submitted, including manuscript notes, proofs, and project files. You may update certain details in My Account after you sign in.

Changing, Deleting, or Unsubscribing
To cancel a membership, close an account, or ask that your personal information be deleted, send a request to publicrelations@intellectgroup.org or call (512) 250-0154. This should stop promotional messages related to online requests you made on the website.

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide publishing services. Contact us if you want to close your account or ask that we no longer use your information to provide services. We will still retain and use information as required to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, complete published work already delivered, and enforce our agreements.

Cookies and Their Use
Cookies are alphanumeric identifiers transferred to your device through your web browser. They allow our systems to recognize your browser, keep you signed in, and remember items in an inquiry or publishing order during a visit.

The Help section of most browsers explains how to refuse new cookies, how to be notified when a cookie is set, or how to disable cookies altogether. Cookies help the site work as intended, including account access and order flow, so we recommend leaving them enabled.

We also log IP addresses to diagnose server issues and administer the website. IP addresses may be used to gather broad demographic information, such as general location and internet service provider. We may collect aggregate information about how visitors use the site, including traffic patterns and search queries. IP address and log-file data are not attached to personally identifiable information.

We also log browser types, access times, referring URLs, and pages viewed while you are on the site. Except as stated in this Privacy Policy, we do not provide this information to unrelated third parties.

Cookies used by our partners, subcontractors, analytics providers, and other service organizations are not covered by this policy. We do not have access to or control over those cookies. Those parties may use session cookies to make it easier to navigate the site.

Intellect Education Group does not respond to “Do Not Track” signals set in your browser.

Clear Gifs (Web Beacons)
We use a technology called clear gifs (also known as web beacons or web bugs) to help us understand which content is effective. Clear gifs are small graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to track online activity. Unlike cookies, which are stored on a user’s device, clear gifs are placed on web pages. We do not tie information gathered by clear gifs to our customers’ personally identifiable information. We may also use similar technology to see whether emails we send have been opened.

Testimonials
With your consent, we may post your testimonial alongside your name. If you want a testimonial removed, contact us at publicrelations@intellectgroup.org or (512) 250-0154.

Links to Other Websites
Our site may include links to other websites whose privacy practices differ from ours, including printers, booksellers, distribution platforms, or social networks. If you submit personal information to any of those sites, your information is governed by their privacy policies. We encourage you to read the privacy statement of any website you visit.

Protection of Children
Intellect Education Group services are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone younger than 16. If we learn that such information was collected without a parent or guardian’s consent, we will delete it.

Your California Privacy Rights
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA), California consumers are entitled to disclosures about the collection and use of their personal information. In the past 12 months, we may have collected name, email, phone number, mailing address, publishing preferences, manuscript-related details you submit, account activity, and usage data, as described above.

If you are a California resident, you may request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, the purpose, and the categories of third parties to whom we disclosed it. You may also request that we delete or correct personal information we hold, unless an exception applies.

To make a request, email publicrelations@intellectgroup.org or call (512) 250-0154. You may also write to 5900 Balcones Drive, Ste 11472, Austin, TX 78731. Please include your full name, contact information, and a clear description of your request. We will process a verifiable request free of charge within 45 days. The CCPA prohibits discrimination against a consumer for exercising these rights.

We do not sell or share your information for financial gain. Sharing information with printers, distributors, or service providers so we can complete your publishing order is done only to fulfill the services you requested.

A California resident may use an authorized agent to submit requests. The resident must give the agent written authorization and may need to verify identity with Intellect Education Group. Send the request and proof to publicrelations@intellectgroup.org.

Residents of the European Economic Area
Intellect Education Group processes personal information lawfully, fairly, and for specified publishing purposes. If you reside or are located in the EEA, you may, in certain circumstances, request that we erase, correct, restrict, or export your personal information, or stop processing it where you have a legal right to object.

Intellect Education Group is the data controller for these requests. Email publicrelations@intellectgroup.org. We will respond without undue delay.

Notice of Changes
If we change this Privacy Policy, we will post those changes on this page, and in other places we consider appropriate, so you know what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances we disclose it. We may update this statement at any time, so please review it regularly. If we make material changes, we will notify you here, by email, or by a notice on the website before the change takes effect.

Legal Disclaimer
We may disclose your personally identifiable information as required by law, and when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, comply with a legal proceeding, court order, or legal process served on our website, or protect the safety of authors, customers, or the public.
